About

Dr. Gutman received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.D. from New York University, and completed his residency in psychiatry at Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute, where he was chief resident. After graduation Dr. Gutman completed a research fellowship using PET and fMRI to study the neurophysiological systems underlying anxiety disorders and deception.

Dr. Gutman has served as the Associate Director of the Columbia Presbyterian Inpatient Unit and Director of Psychopharmacology at Columbia University Medical Center Eastside.

In addition, Dr. Gutman has pursued his interests in psychotherapy and personality with the Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Program and Adult Psychoanalysis Program at the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. He is currently on faculty as a training and supervising psychoanalyst at the Columbia Psychoanalytic center.

Dr. Gutman has also taught and supervised a wide range of trainees on topics including pharmacology, ADHD, trauma, psychoanalysis and combining medication and psychotherapy.
